About Us

Dave and Janelle: Our Story

We are your typical young American couple, starting out. We have jobs, a home, a dog and our world revolves around close friends and family members. We’ve been married for a few years now, and are really ready to start a family! As we mentally prepare to have children, the seriousness of the job begins to sink in, with all the joy and intense fear that comes with the first child. We began a search for resources in order to arm ourselves with as much support as possible. We had so many questions!

Like so many young parents and parents to be, our loved ones are spread across the map and we will not have the luxury of them being close by to witness precious moments, or come over and help us solve a tough problem. Being children of the internet generation and also making a living in various forms of it, we realized that we could create an online space to record each of our milestones, family photos, home videos, daily happenings etc. Then we decided we should be able to selectively choose which pieces of our lives to share with whom. On top of that, we desperately needed advice from other parents out there, expert professional opinions (and most importantly.... Mom!) 24 hours a day.

It soon dawned on us that other new, expecting or planning parents and those of future generations to come, could benefit from such a place. We teamed up with some of our friends in the various stages of pregnancy and child rearing, and TheNursery.com was born.

The Company

Over the last two years, we’ve sought out the leading experts in the industry to provide answers and advice to our community, and designed interactive tools to make sharing your information easy and safe. TheNursery.com is a combination of provided advice from experts, a community of other parents to share information with and a protected environment to showcase your children to your loved ones.

The Team

Janelle Bittinger has an extensive background in enterprise-level application development having worked for PeopleSoft, Oracle, and CB Richard Ellis as a Portal Developer, Team Leader and Development Manager. In her current role at CBRE, she leads a development team to bring the desired experience of commercial real estate brokers to life in the employee portal application. Janelle brings a working knowledge of large-scale application planning, usability and deployment. She has spent the last 10 years of her career designing powerful web applications to streamline business objectives. Janelle brings that corporate experience home with TheNursery.com, in order to do the same for new parents.

David Bittinger is an entrepreneur who has grown a successful high-tech consulting company over the past seven years. David has multi-faceted talents in creative direction, user interface design, application development and information architecture with business degrees in Information Systems and Finance. He contributes to this project his diverse experience with all aspects of web design and application development having lead projects for Fortune 500 companies from the commercial real estate industry to nationwide retailers.

Eric Harvie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, with over 10 years in the software development and information technology industries. Eric spent several years with PeopleSoft evolving many of their product lines. Now as a consultant with speakTECH, he helps lead other companies with their most challenging Microsoft initiatives. Eric and his wife also bring practical experience to our ”’family,” having blazed the trail with two young children, a daughter, 3, and a son, 1. He embodies the ideals of hard-work, friends and family-first, and balancing it all.
