Oh my gosh, or should I say gush! My water broke at 3:30 this morning. I have had a feeling for a month or so that Lorelai would be early but somehow I doubted it. Well, it looks like she is on her way. I'm not having contractions yet but that is fine with me.
I called the midwife to let her know that my water had broke and she asked me a number of questions and confirmed my suspicions. She told me to try and go back to sleep for a few hours since I would have a long day ahead of me. Who can sleep with all this excitement! I had to have an outlet for it so that I wouldn't wake up Joe yet so I'm sharing it with all of you. I'm a list maker so when I tried to lay back down all I could do was make lists of things to do before leaving for the birth center.
So it looks like later today or tonight we will be home with our little girl. The way it works at my birth center is that you go in and deliver the baby. Once you have her and they confirm that we are both doing fine then they send you home, no 2 day hospital stay. They keep you for at least 4 hours after deliver because if something is going to happen to either one of us then it will happen in the first four hours. We are required to stay six but at our birth center they let you stay for 12 hours.
I'm sorry I'm rambling right now but I'm sure you can all understand, I just so excited.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post some pictures and give you details.

Best of luck, you will be in my thoughts and prayers today! What an exciting time for you and your family!!! Sounds like you have a great birthing center lined up. Getting rest is the best thing you can do so your body is ready for the big task ahead. No worries though, your body will know just what to do and in no time you will be holding that beautiful little girl. Cant wait to see some pictures!
Best of luck, and as much as we all can't wait to see pictures of your little beauty, focus on getting her and you rest! We'll be here. :)
Congratulations!!! I hope your labor goes smoothly! I will be thinking about you and praying for you and your family!

Wow!! That is so exciting - CONGRATULATIONS!! I can't wait to hear how you and the baby are doing. Remember, it is very important to listen to everyone when they tell you to sleep when she sleeps. I wish I would have listened. I thought I could do it all and boy was I wrong!!! Let the dishes sit, who cares about the laundry (you don't typically get out of your pj's the 1st 2 weeks anyway!) and just sleep, sleep, sleep every chance you get!! :-)
Also, I know everyone already told you, but, WE WANT PICS!! :-)

Congratulations! And best wishes for a speedy delivery!
Mom's LOVE to give new moms advice - we just want to save you from the mistakes we've made! So of course I have to add mine....the best advice I got for surviving the sleep deprivation is to stop thinking of each day as "day" and "night" and start thinking of it as simply 24 hours. That way you're less inclined to try to sneak in a few chores during the day instead of taking a nap - because feeding the baby every 2-3 hours for weeks on end is exhausting!
Welcome to the club - there really is nothing like being a mom! :)

Thank you all so much for the advise! I think it is hard to appreciate the sleep deprivation until you are in the middle of it. My mom and dad are both here and have been a huge help, not letting Joe and I do anything but care for Lorelai. I still feel like I should be trying to accomplish stuff while she is asleep and I'm trying to let that go. I like the concept of the 24 hour day, rather than day and night, I think I will work on changing my perspective in that direction tomorrow.
Any other advise you all want to pass along is completely welcome!
