Any thoughts on what to get a second-time mother that would be sort of indulgent and just for her? They're having a second boy, so there's nothing they need for the baby, but I wanted to get her something because I admire her strength and thinks she really deserves it. They're first son was born with Downs and I just think it's remarkable that they're having a second child when the risks are so high.
Did any of you get anything really nice and indulgent that you didn't have to share, or did you get a girlfriend something like that?

Ooohh, one of my favorite gifts was a pregnancy massage! But, depending on how far along she is, you could maybe do one after as well. Another idea is maybe a pedicure and/or a manicure. I wanted to get a pedicure before having Sammy so that my toes looked as good as they could in those stirups! :-) Something else to think about is maybe a sling. I know it isn't really self-indulgent, but with another child already, a baby holder (if she doesn't already have one) would be a must, I would think!
That is so nice of you to think of your friend! She definitely deserves something special!

As a mom of two I love the idea of celebrating each pregnancy. This is really sweet of you! I'd like to second the massage and mani/pedi suggestions - definitely indulgent. They have a lot of really nice pregnancy lotions, etc. now that make a nice gift. I also loved getting silky pj's. I'm not one of those that felt beautiful while pregnant, and luxurious pajamas always made me feel great.
Happy shopping!

Thank you for the great suggestions! I went with some really soft and thick body butters from Carol's Daughter. Hopefully she'll have a chance to take a long hot bath and then use one of them. :)
I had to laugh about the pedicure...I got one right before Noah was born, but it wasn't just so that my toes would look good in stirrups. I was trying to induce labor!! It didn't work though, which made me mad since I spent my entire pregnancy avoiding foot massages for fear of early inducement...
I see that you have already figured it out but I thought I would share what my sister sent to me, it was call an "All about me box". She found a beautiful trunk (about the size of a shoe box) and filled it with things just for me like tea, a pretty mug, a cooling eye mask, lotions, soaps, nail polish, a candle, etc. It was so wonderful and sweet.
What a wonderful gift! I would have loved to have done something like that, but I don't know this particular mom well enough to know what would have really made her feel good. But I will keep something like this in mind for the next one!
Thanks!
