Organic Baby Toys

Trista and Ryan's Pick: Organic Baby Toys
Problem:

Children and babies put everything into their mouths and can exposing their developing bodies to unknown chemicals. Many children’s toys can contain dangerous chemicals such as lead, phthalates and pesticides. Recent recalls last summer of Mattel toys were 180 times over the legal limit of lead allowed in the U.S. and over 12 million toys were recalled in 2007.

Solution:

Choose safe toys such as wooden toys made without harsh stains/adhesives or sealants and avoid most plastic toys which can leach phthalates. Phthalates are linked to hormone disruption. Also, look for plush toys that are free of pesticides, and made with natural vegetable based dyes for chemical free pigments.
